WELCOME TO THE WEBSITE OF THE CARIBBEAN CHESS CARNIVAL

The Board of Directors of the Trinidad and Tobago Chess Foundation extends an invitation to all Chess players and Federations to participate in the 6th edition of our international tournament.

The website is for promoting the Caribbean Chess Carnival. An objective of the website is to make available, for viewing online as well as for download, chess games played during the festival. The site also publishes a selection of the games played in previous festivals. For this, the games are uploaded to the site in PGN format. The PGN viewer integrated with the web site will facilitate the online viewing. The user can also view reports of the games, download bulletins, view pairings and results for each round.The user can view information regarding registration, prizes, tournament details,regulations, accommodation, organizers, contact info etc. Users can also view the details of past tournaments.The website also provides news, stories and interviews related to the Chess Carnival. There will be a photo gallery attached to the website.

CARIBBEAN CHESS CARNIVAL 2009

The Caribbean Chess Carnival 2009, a nine-round Swiss event, will be held in Port of Spain, Trinidad during the period Tuesday 4th August (first game) to Sunday 9th August (final game). Stay tuned for further details.


Cuban Master Retains Title As Chess Carnival Comes to a Close

The Banquet hall of the Queen’s Park Cricket Club was bustling with activity on Sunday 10th August as the Caribbean Chess Carnival came to a vibrant conclusion. Naipal Sisters Win All Female Clashes

The penultimate day of the Caribbean Chess Carnival was a fairly quiet one, with no surprising results in any of the four divisions.

National Champion Upset at Chess Carnival

The second day of play in the Caribbean Chess Carnival provided a number of exciting pairings, which resulted in some surprising results. Perhaps the biggest upset of the day was Trinidadian Marcus Joseph’s thrashing of his counterpart, current national champion Ryan Harper. The ever improving Joseph, playing white against Harper, used the e4 opening to which Harper responded with a Sveshnikov variation of the Sicilian defence.
